The University was founded in 1977 by Arthur Keiser and Evelyn, his mother. They created a college that prepared students to work in Florida’s business and healthcare sectors. They named it Keiser School. Computer programs and Paralegal courses were added in 1982, so they changed the school name to Keiser Institute of Technology. 

The school started to award students their degrees in 1986 and then changed its name to Keiser College. The first bachelor’s degree program at Keiser College was created in 2001. Keiser changed its name five years later to Keiser University in 2006 to reflect its transition from a two-year to a four-year degree-granting institution.

Over the years, different organizations have investigated Keiser University to ensure that they comply with the “Assurance of Voluntary compliance.” 

Having been registered by different authorities, Keiser University became the first to be appointed by the Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings, in 2012.
